“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the rich out of freedom.  What one person received without working for, another person must work for without receiving.  The government cannot give to anybody anything the government does not first take from somebody else.  When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend is about the end of any nation.”
Dr. Adrian Rogers (1931-2005)

He Wow'ed the American Conservative Union's CPAC Convention in D.C., and Now Atlanta's Jonathan Krohn Speaks to the RWWC!

He is the darling of the Conservative media, and has appeared on Fox twice since his Washington, D.C. speech just three weeks ago to the Conservative Political Action Conference. Second only to the buzz created by Rush Limbaugh's presentation to the same conference, Atlanta's Jonathan Krohn is an up and coming political analyst and catalyst for stimulating young people's interest in the Grand Old Party.

At the age of 8, he was intrigued by the practice of filibustering, and that led to his fascination in all things political.

A political wunderkind, 14-year-old, home-schooled Krohn authored his first book last year, Define Conservatism: For Past, Present and Future Generations. The book is currently back-ordered, but we will have copies on hand for a book signing. His book has led to interviews on national TV and radio talk shows.

At a time in which the Republican party is doing a great deal of soul searching and trying to redefine itself, Jonathan clearly articulates our core beliefs in a manner that speaks to all ages.

The son of an engineer and a drama teacher, Jonathan is gifted in many ways, from his playing of the cello from age 4, to his present interest in the banjo, Because of his expressive voice, he has also narrated the Gwinnett Philharmonic's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra. Among his other interests is stage acting and he is currently under consideration for a part in the Broadway production of Mary Poppins. But politics remains the interest that consumes much of his time and thinking.

He is an avid fan of conservative talk radio, and is currently making the circuit on programs around the country. In his spare time he is taking up golf in hopes of playing with his favorite politicians.

Join us on April 22 to hear from this youngest star of the Republican party speak on "Define Conservatism."

The March RWWC Meeting keynote speaker is Lieutenant Colonel John G. Krenson and the topic is "Afghanistan:  The Forgotten War?"

It began over seven years ago, the Taliban was removed from power and President Hamid Karzai was later elected. The war in Afghanistan brought the country into the modern age with a western-style central government, but while the Taliban was removed and on the run, along with al-Qaeda, they were not defeated.

The country is under siege, particularly in the south, by an increasing violent Taliban insurgency. In the mountainous region along the border with Pakistan, Osama bin Laden is suspected to be hiding. Civilian deaths have increased 40% last year, a source of friction between U.S. forces and President Karzai.

Experts warn that Afghanistan represents a more formidable challenge for the U.S. than Iraq. Military officials have requested 30,000 more troops in addition to the 36,000 U.S. troops fighting there now. In a few weeks, President Obama has promised 8,000 Marines to be followed this summer by 9,000 Army troops.

On the other hand, a great deal has already been accomplished for the Afghan people.

Our keynote speaker March 25 is an expert on Afghanistan and can aptly put the challenges and renewed hostilities in perspective. Lieutenant Colonel John G. Krenson is a native Nashvillian and has served in the Tennessee Army National Guard for over 20 years. He currently commands the 2nd Squadron, 278th Armor Cavalry Regiment. His unit includes 943 of Tennessee's finest citizen-soldiers and is presently on alert for a deployment to Iraq later this year.

Krenson served in Afghanistan in 2003-2004 as the Chief Intelligence Liaison between U.S. forces and NATO and then as the Current Intelligence Operations Officer for the Afghanistan theater of operations.

He is the author of Crossfire: A Time for Peace, War & Love, which chronicles how a man of peace makes the transition to a soldier of war. Limited copies of Krenson's book will be available for purchase and book-signing at this meeting.

In civilian life, Krenson is a management/business consultant, author and permanent Deacon at the Cathedral of the Incarnation Catholic Church, and husband to Carrie and father to daughter Dasha and son Evan.

Don't miss this rare opportunity to hear about the war in Afghanistan, all the advances achieved in the lives of the Afghan people, and the challenges yet to be faced in fighting for a lasting peace.

Star Panel to Address "Obamanomics:  Everything You Were Afraid to Ask About Stimulus and Bailout Packages, and What It Will Really Cost Taxpayers."

RWWC members are in for a rare treat on Wednesday, February 25 as we take front row seats to a star panel discussion on the hottest political topic of the day, the latest plans being debated in Congress to spend more money, we don't have, to jump start the economy.

Unfortunately, this latest bailout attempt, called the "Stimulus Package" is meant to suggest to taxpayers that this is no ordinary bailout plan, like the one this last fall that saw banks gobble hundreds of billions with no accounting of how that bailout money was spent, and little evidence of it helping to get the economy back on track with healthy lending.

Dubbed "the giant porker bill" the Stimulus package, recently ballooning to $900 billion dollars in Senate versions, by most estimates, devotes only 25% of that sum to actual jobs creation and programs to stimulate the economy.  It is loaded full of pork, Democrats pet projects that have been attached under the guise of creating some jobs.

Many thanks to our panel leader, Ben Cunningham of the lauded Tennessee Tax Revolt for assembling a star panel for us.  Joining Mr. Cunningham will be WTN 99.7 Talk Radio's Ralph Bristol and the Tennessee Center for Policy Research's Executive Director and pork expert, Drew Johnson.  Please put a lock on your wallet when you come to hear about this nearly TRILLION dollar legislation.

Opening our February 25 meeting, at 11:00 am, will be the presentation of Medallions to our 2008 Ele Award winners, followed by a lovely lunch and then our star panel.
