Dr. Mark Green to Speak at May Luncheon
Please join us for one of the WCRP's favorite speaker patriots, Major Mark Green, M.D. Dr. Green has a new program to share highlighting the grave
challenges the next president will face on the international stage. Dr. Green will provide the riveting details of the threat of Iran, Chinese colonialism and the effects of the banking crisis. You wont want to miss this one. We are pleased to have a decorated veteran as our featured speaker for May, when we will prepare for honoring our veterans, living and
fallen.
Dr. Green has enjoyed an impressive military career including service as an airborne rifle company commander in the famed 82nd Airborne Division and as a special operations flight surgeon assigned to the 160th Special Operations Aviation |
Regimen. During two deployments to Iraq and one to Afghanistan, Dr. Green worked as the direct physician and medical planner for some of OIF and OEF’s most covert operations. He was awarded the Combat Medical Badge, the Air Medal, the Air Medal with “V” device for valor under heavy fire and the Bronze Star.
In addition to an economics degree from West Point, Mark has a Master’s Certificate from the University of Southern California in Information Systems Management. His military awards include those mentioned above as well as the Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Achievement Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Joint Services Achievement Medal, the US Army Ranger Tab, US Army Flight Surgeons’ Wings, the Expert Infantrymans’ Badge, Senior Parachutists Badge and the Air Assault Badge.

The presentation of the 2007 Ele’ Awards carries on a tradition begun by President Claire Bawcom in 1992 to recognize those RWWC members who worked so diligently in Republican causes during the past year. I am honored to be able to carry on this great tradition.

 |
| This year’s event was beautifully organized by Phyllis Streiff and Rita Jorgenson and graciously hosted by Monty and Shalia Lankford. The first awards went to my Board of Directors for going “above and beyond” their job title to make sure RWWC ran efficiently. Recipients were Jean Barwick, Barbara Steinhouser, Janet Slothower, Karen Keitzman, Suzanne Loperfido, Becky Pair, Sherry Kelly, Cynthia McClard, Brenda Meyers, Toni Albani, Bev Burger, Janet McKeown, Carole Robinson, Phyllis Streiff, Mayme Ryan, Janie Yeager, Lila Napolitano, Bunny Harper, Carole Ferrell and Ona Powers. |

Ele’ Awards were presented for outstanding accomplishment to Janie Yeager, Barbara Steinhouser and Janet Slothower.
Kim Helper was presented the Volunteer of the Year Award in appreciation of her outstanding achievement in successfully chairing our Harvest Celebration. She is enthusiastic, dependable, has a great way of organizing and encouraging people to do their best while also having a good time. Congratulations to Kim on her appointment as District Attorney General.
The Apple of our Eye Award recognizes a Republican activist who has held various office in RWWC and also been active in politics at the county level. It was presented to Cynthia McClard, who has helped us all to become more educated about legislative issues as the 2007 Chair of the Legislative Committee.

demonstrating patriotism, which soars above the commonplace. The only possible recipient for this year’s Eagle Award was Becky Pair in appreciation of her work on the Memorial Day celebration and the Wreathes Across America event.
Brenda Meyers received the Mary Cawthon Award. It was the first award given by RWWC and is highly treasured. The recipient must have been a member for 5 years, been active in the club activities and in campaigns on federal, state and local levels. Brenda stays out of the spotlight, but has been instrumental in the

success of RWWC for many years. When I came to my first RWWC meeting she was the only person I knew and to me SHE WAS RWWC!
The Legacy Award was presented to Past President Suzanne Loperfido in recognition and appreciation of the enthusiasm she brought to the Presidency as she brought RWWC to a record high membership and for her service as Vice President of Area 6-C.
After the Ele’ Awards were concluded, our Legislative delegation represented by Senator Jack Johnson and Representative Charles |

Sargent, presented me with a beautifully framed Resolution passed by the General Assembly to honor the memory of my husband, District Attorney General Ron Davis. Senator Johnson read the Resolution to the assembled guests and they responded with a standing ovation. My heart was filled to overflowing with gratitude and appreciation for this honor and Ron would have been so pleased. I am so grateful to each and every one of you for all the love and support you have shown to both Ron and me during his illness and since his death. A special thank you to President Becky Pair for the beautiful gift she present me in recognition of my Presidency of RWWC. As I told her, I had looked forward to the Ele’ Awards as a time to recognize those who had done so much for RWWC, but I got much more than I gave. Thank you all for allowing me to be your President. It is a memory I will always treasure.
